To me, O'Hare seemed like 1 of those old school Saturday morning cartoon villains. I actually didn't mind it. He practically ruled Thneedville! That's pretty hardcore if you ask me! But here's something I didn't understand. SPOILERS!!!!!!! When the Once-ler builds his factory, we see that O'Hare was 1 of his employees before he got the idea to sell fresh air. Since the Once-ler was still a young man and the Lorax hadn't lifted himself yet at this time, then why is it that many years in the future, the Once-ler looks elderly and O'Hare doesn't look any older than early 40's? If anybody could explain this to me, I'd appreciate it.

Well, I think animation in general does lean on the fable side... That characters and archetypes are often interchangeable- that O'Hare is a separate character because he represents something different from the Onceler. He's younger because his type is newer in the world- almost an anti-Lorax. At the Onceler's worst, he was delusional- he did not invest in sustaining the one materials his product needed . O'Hare has mafia overtones- he knows he's selling poison and doesn't care as long as the money keeps coming in.

These are some interesting points. I never really thought of it like that. I guess I was just focusing of the obvious age differences, rather than character representation. And now that you've mentioned, O'Hare is sort of an Anti-Lorax, isn't he? Instead of trying to save the trees, he wants them extinct! Excellent points, anarky!
